Introducing the long-awaited release of 'Spudwhiskers'.. we're sorry for holding out on you.
After what feels like an eternity, we're thrilled to finally unveil our latest musical creation – 'Spudwhiskers'. We understand that the wait has been excruciating, and for that, we sincerely apologise. Although the original song had been released to CD on our first album 'Paint The Town', we never brought it forward into the streaming age.
As of September 1st, 2023, 'Spudwhiskers' graces all major music streaming platforms.
Prepare to be transported back in time as you dive into the original studio recording of 'Spudwhiskers' a gem meticulously crafted back in 2015 and an anthemic soundtrack to many of our live shows over the past 8 years.
Included in this release, is a LIVE version of the song captured at Woodford Folk Festival (2022) in Australia as well as a unique (Revisited) version of 'Spudwhiskers'. We have always sort to explore the many sides of our songs and compositions through revisitation. This stripped down (Revisited) rendition has been carefully adapted for the piano and masterfully performed by none other than our very own James Mackay who is also the primary composer of 'Spudwhiskers'. It's an interpretation that adds a new dimension to the song, offering a fresh perspective on the familiar notes that have become a part of your musical landscape.
This release is particularly meaningful for us, as each track marks a different moment in the evolution of both 'Spudwhiskers' and Hot Potato Band. It's a testament to the journey we've undertaken as musicians, and we're excited to share it with you.
To all of you who've patiently waited and requested this track over the years, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Your enthusiasm and support have been the driving force behind this release, and we hope it brings you as much joy to listen to as it has brought us to create.
So, without further ado, we invite you to dive into the world of 'Spudwhiskers' a musical journey that we couldn't be more thrilled to share with you.
Simon Ghali | Drummer & Director (on behalf of team Hot Potato Band)
