Workshop | Manly Jazz Festival

Calling all musicians! Join local brass collective, Hot Potato Band for an exciting musical workshop & street performance at the upcoming Manly Jazz Festival. If you are in Primary or High School, learning a musical instrument at any level, this event is for you!

All participants will partake in a collaborative 90 minute workshop to learn and prepare music to later perform in a unique street performance that will transform Manly Corso into the French Quarter of New Orleans. With a focus on having fun whilst playing music, this one-off workshop and performance opportunity is open to all students between the ages of 9 and 18 who are learning a musical instrument. All registered participants will be provided with a music pack containing sheet music & resources in preparation for the workshop & performance. Through choreographed movement, dancing and singing, students will experience the infectious energy and fun of making music as they perform alongside the HPB team.

THE WORKSHOP at Manly Town Hall

• Vocalists are welcome (hand percussion encouraged). 
• Please ensure that you are able to carry and play your instrument.
• Students with large or heavy instruments should consider downsizing or discuss harnesses/strapping.

THE PARADE at Manly Corso

9:30am - Arrival

* Students to be dropped off at Manly Town Hall and met by a HPB team member.

* Assemble instruments, warm up & settle in.

10:00am - Workshop begins

11:30am - Workshop end & Questions

11:45am - Walk to Parade starting point

12:00pm - Parade Begins 

* The parade will start outside of Manly Town Hall heading North up the Corso.

12:30pm - Parade Ends

* Ending near the Oceanfront Stage at the north end of the Corso.

12:40pm - Student Pick Up

* Students to pack up their instruments and be collected by parent/guardian from Manly Town Hall.

COST

$60.00 per student

* Cost includes the workshop and parade + a digital information pack with learning resources and sheet music.

* BYO instrument.
